The DADDY of all cards!Already you might have a growing collection of cards. Loyalty cards, bank cards, library cards and top up cards .all these cards giving you lots of plastic delights! Now we all like it when our bank cards deliver those lovely crisp fivers and your granny is chuffed to bits when her supermarket card earns her 5p off her next can of baked beans, but what about you! Have you discovered the Connexions Card? |
Let me break it down for you without all the blah blah blah!
Name : Connexions Card
Cost : Free .zilch .zero
Available to : 16-19year olds in England
Why? : To build up points for learning, work based training and voluntary activities
Points mean?: PRIZES! You can exchange points for free stuff or use the card to get discount by using points or by simply flashing the plastic at places who are in the scheme (check out the sticker in their windows)
How is it MINE?: The smart card has a chip that stores your personal information
and points ready for you to get your rewards! The chip is secure and there are
numbers you can call if you lose it, move address or your situation changes.
Nope! There's more. Do you have trouble getting to see films at the cinema because they don't believe you're over 15? Or are you fed up trying to prove that you are under 18 so that the bus conductor won't charge you the adult fare? Is sitting through registration at school or college perhaps the most boring thing in the whole world? Well this little baby can help you out. It can be used officially as a proof of age card and some schools and colleges use it as a quick and easy way of recording attendance! Remember, your attendance can be one of the ways to earn those reward points.
Many schools, colleges and learning centres are already using the cards for many of the different reasons above, so they will be able to help you get your hands on one. But don't despair, if they don't, it doesn't mean that you can't have one. Simply check out more information on www.connexionscard.com or call the FREE helpline on 0808 1723333.
You can earn points in several ways, for example, a weeks full attendance at a learning centre would give you 100 points. For voluntary activities you can earn up to 1000 points a year with the Millennium Volunteers. Rewards change daily so keep an eye out on the website for new info! Some of the rewards available at the moment (when this article was written) include things like DVD and video rental vouchers, Sport England water bottles, the chance to win a day out with an MP, CD's, or the chance to win Glastonbury tickets! Your discounts could include places such as Topshop, UCI cinemas, Toni and Guy, Burton, National Express travel, Miss Selfridge, Index, Dorothy Perkins and BSM, but again these could change, so check out the latest!
Good Luck
